Former Wonder Girls’ Sunye quietly deletes Instagram tribute to Charlie Kirk after fans notice

Sunye, former member of Wonder Girls, has drawn attention after posting a tribute to the late American activist Charlie Kirk — only to delete it shortly after.

On September 16, Sunye uploaded a message on Instagram honoring Kirk, adding Bible verses from 1 John 4:9–10. The post was later removed, sparking discussions among fans and netizens.

Charlie Kirk, known as a right-wing activist and a close aide to former U.S. president Donald Trump, was tragically shot and killed during a debate speech at Utah Valley University on September 10. He was 31 years old.

This comes just days after Super Junior’s Choi Siwon faced controversy for a similar tribute. Siwon explained on the fan platform Bubble, “Charlie Kirk was a Christian, a head of a family, and a husband. Regardless of political stance, the fact that he lost his life to gun violence while speaking in front of many college students was such a heartbreaking tragedy, and that’s why I paid tribute.”

He added, “After posting, I realized it was being interpreted differently from my intentions. I thought my sincerity had already been conveyed enough, so I decided to delete it.”
