Sunmi has cleared the air about the long-standing rumor that she once cut ties with J.Y. Park.
On September 9, the singer appeared as a guest on the web variety show Salon Drip 2. During a talk about relationships, she shared, “They say if you go through a really big love and a really big breakup, you create a really big album."
She added, "But J.Y. Park PD would probably say, ‘Did you meet someone like that again?’ and wouldn’t let it go easily.”
J.Y. Park’s past concern about Sunmi’s relationships has been mentioned before. On MBC’s Radio Star, he revealed that because Sunmi lost her father at a young age and looked after her younger brothers, some of those feelings were once directed toward a man.
He admitted, “At that time, I told her I wouldn’t see her anymore… but now she’s not like that, so I don’t worry anymore.”
Wanting to clarify things, Sunmi said, “I really want to make it clear that it only happened once. It was my very first relationship, and it ended with that one person. After that, I only met very good and healthy people.”
She added, “But that one story kept going around in shorts. People left many worried comments about me. But isn’t it normal to make mistakes in your first love? I haven’t been like that since then.”
