Former Wonder Girls member Yubin opened up about her family’s heartbreaking situation and pleaded for public support.
On September 1, Yubin revealed through her social media that her oldest sister, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020, is now battling the disease after it spread to her brain in 2024.
She wrote, “My oldest sister was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020 and has been going through difficult treatment until now. Unfortunately, in 2024 the cancer spread to her brain, and she is fighting a painful battle every single day.”

Yubin explained that while an effective treatment exists, it has been very difficult for her sister to access due to high costs and lack of insurance coverage. With a desperate heart, she shared a national petition calling for urgent health insurance coverage for the drug Tukysa (tucatinib), which is known to be highly effective for HER2-positive breast cancer patients with brain metastasis.
She added, “This is not just about my family. It is also an important matter connected to whether breast cancer patients in the future can receive better treatment. Please, even the smallest support will help many patients keep their hope alive.”
The petition, which Yubin linked for fans and followers, has already gathered 9,900 signatures as of September 2, 5:30 AM KST.
Fans and netizens have been sending messages of support to Yubin and her family, hoping her sister can receive the treatment she needs.
