On August 18, the Running Man production team confirmed to Star News, “The scene where Kim Jong Kook announces his marriage will be aired earlier, on August 31.”
Originally, the big reveal was supposed to air on September 7. But with the huge buzz surrounding Kim Jong Kook’s sudden marriage news, the team decided to move up part of the opening where he personally shares it with the members.
During the show’s opening recording, Kim Jong Kook reportedly surprised everyone by dropping the big announcement himself.
Back in April, rumors first started when reports revealed he had purchased a luxury townhouse-style villa in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam, for 6.2 billion KRW — all in cash. At the time, fans speculated marriage could be on the horizon.
Kim Jong Kook later confirmed the news directly through his fan café Papitus, writing in a heartfelt handwritten letter, “I’m getting married. Honestly, I’ve been dropping little hints here and there, but I know many of you might feel this is sudden. I will work hard to live well.”
While the exact wedding date has not been set, it has been reported that his bride-to-be is a non-celebrity. Kim Jong Kook plans to hold a small private ceremony soon with only close family and friends.
