BTS’s V (Kim Taehyung) is about to make history on the baseball field, and just the news alone was enough to shake up the internet.
On August 17, the Los Angeles Dodgers officially revealed that V will be throwing the ceremonial first pitch at Dodger Stadium on August 25 during their game against the Cincinnati Reds.
The team’s post read, “ARMY, are you ready? V will be throwing the first pitch at Dodger Stadium on August 25!” complete with the signature purple heart emoji for BTS’s fandom.
The announcement instantly sent fans into a frenzy, so much that even MLB and ticketing sites reportedly faced server crashes due to the massive surge in traffic.

Fans flooded social media with explosive reactions:
- “History is being made. Taehyung is about to be at Dodger Stadium!”
- “Oh my God! So excited for Taehyung.”
- “Let’s go! Can’t wait for Taehyung.”
Some ARMYs who couldn’t grab tickets expressed their frustration with envy and humor. One fan even borrowed from the classic pop song “Fly Me to the Moon” and wrote, “Oh my God, fly me to LA!” Others said, “Unbelievable! LA ARMYs are so lucky!” and “What???”
Fans also praised V’s undeniable global impact:
- “I’ve never doubted Taehyung’s impact.”
- “Never doubt the impact of the Tannies!”
- “Father Taehyung’s impact, I’m so proud. Can’t wait!”
This is a rare moment for a K-pop idol to step onto the MLB stage, continuing the Dodgers’ tradition of inviting world-famous stars for the ceremonial pitch. Right after V, soccer star Son Heung Min will also take the mound on August 27.
Meanwhile, V isn’t the only BTS member with sports connections. Suga is known as a passionate baseball fan and is currently an NBA ambassador, while J-Hope and Jungkook have also thrown first pitches in the past.
