It looks like the beloved cast and crew of tvN’s hit drama Reply 1988 might be reuniting for a special 10th anniversary project — and fans are wondering if that could mean a Hyeri and Ryu Jun Yeol reunion.
On August 13, Egg Is Coming — the agency representing writer Lee Woo Jung and PD Shin Won Ho — confirmed to Newsen, “It’s true that we are discussing content to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Reply 1988, but no details have been confirmed yet.”
Earlier, OSEN reported that the Reply 1988 team would be heading to Gangwon Province this October for a group MT (membership training trip) in honor of the anniversary.
Originally airing from November 2015 to January 2016, Reply 1988 told the heartwarming story of five families living on the same street in Ssangmun-dong in 1988.
The drama hit a peak nationwide viewership rating of 18.8% (Nielsen Korea) and remains one of tvN’s most-loved series.
The cast featured Hyeri, Park Bo Gum, Ryu Jun Yeol, Go Kyung Pyo, Lee Dong Hwi, Sung Dong Il, Lee Il Hwa, Ryu Hye Young, Kim Sung Kyun, Ra Mi Ran, Ahn Jae Hong, Kim Sun Young, Choi Sung Won, Kim Seol, Choi Moo Sung, Yoo Jae Myung, Lee Min Ji, and Lee Se Young.
Of course, fans remember that Hyeri and Ryu Jun Yeol’s on-screen love triangle blossomed into a real-life romance.
The two went public with their relationship in August 2017 and dated for over six years before announcing their breakup in November 2023.
With talks of anniversary content underway, fans are curious to see if the project will bring the ex-couple back together — at least on screen.
