J.Y. Park has finally opened up about the iconic trainee battle between JYP Entertainment and YG Entertainment — and yes, it was just as intense as fans imagined!

On August 8, J.Y. Park appeared in a new video uploaded on the YouTube channel Zip Daesung, where he reunited with BIGBANG’s Daesung. The two first met 15 years ago on the hit variety show Family Outing, and the reunion was full of heartfelt moments and surprising stories.

Daesung couldn’t help but compliment J.Y. Park’s youthful looks and energy, saying, “Hyung, you haven’t changed at all. You actually look younger and sound better. "

He added, "Back then, when I saw you do your morning routines and vocal warm-ups, I thought, ‘I could never do that.’ But now, I’m doing the same thing. Watching you perform ‘Easy Lover’ really amazed me. I had so much respect for you.”

The conversation soon shifted to the legendary battle between JYP and YG trainees. Daesung recalled an earlier Zip Daesung episode where he mentioned Rain and Se7en, saying, “Rain and Se7en hyung were there first. It was kind of a competition to show off.”

G-Dragon had even chimed in during that episode, saying, “From what I heard, during Rain and Se7en hyung’s time, YG lost.”

J.Y. Park responded humbly, “Rather than saying who won or lost, I’d say they knew each other well. They actually both went to the same high school — Anyang Arts High School."

He added, "Dong Wook (Se7en) had a more relaxed mindset, but Ji Hoon (Rain), since he was older and a senior, felt like he had to prove himself. He pushed himself so hard, like his body would break.”

Daesung asked if that kind of battle still happens these days, saying, “That was probably the first time something like that happened, right? You don’t see that nowadays.” J.Y. Park replied with a smile, “It’s gone now.”

The legendary battle between Rain and Se7en may be a thing of the past, but the passion and drive shown during those trainee days still inspire fans and idols alike!
