Veteran actress Kim Hye Ja shared her heartfelt thoughts about IU and Park Bo Gum, praising their sincere acting in the drama When Life Gives You Tangerines.

On the July 27 broadcast of JTBC’s special documentary A Garden More Beautiful Than Heaven, Kim Hye Ja had a cozy conversation with singer Lee Hyo Ri, who visited her home.

Lee Hyo Ri admired Kim Hye Ja’s home, saying, “This room feels like a peaceful place. There’s healing energy here. Even the desk looks like it holds a lot of history.”

Kim Hye Ja shared that the desk was made 30 years ago and that the trophies around the room had been collected over her long career.

When asked if she watches other dramas, Kim Hye Ja mentioned IU and Park Bo Gum’s latest drama and gave high praise, “Park Bo Gum is in that drama, right? I watched it. I like that IU and Park Bo Gum don’t act in an overly flashy way. Their acting feels pure and sincere.”

Lee Hyo Ri then asked if she can tell when someone is overacting, and Kim Hye Ja replied honestly, “Yes, sometimes when someone acts too well, it actually feels a bit creepy. I think acting should feel a little raw and human. I don’t like it when someone tries to be too perfect or acts like a fox.”

She added, “I think it’s more powerful when actors leave a little room for imperfection. Being too perfect can feel unnatural.”

Lee Hyo Ri responded with admiration, saying, “That’s the wisdom of a true master.”

Fans were touched by Kim Hye Ja’s honest thoughts and her praise for IU and Park Bo Gum’s humble and grounded acting style.
