Singer Paul Kim recently shared a hilarious story about being mistaken for none other than BTS’s V — and it was all because of his real name!
On the July 26 episode of JTBC’s Knowing Bros (Ep. 492), Paul Kim appeared as a guest alongside Kang Daniel, Teem, and Jo Jazz.
During the show, Paul Kim explained why he uses “Paul” as his stage name, saying: “Paul is my baptismal name. I studied abroad when I was young, and everyone there called me Paul — so I just went with it.”
But it was when Shin Dong pointed out that his real name, Kim Tae Hyung, might cause confusion nowadays that Paul Kim shared a funny moment from a recent trip abroad.
“I went to Prague not long ago. While I was checking into the hotel, a male staff member kept looking at me and smiling. I thought maybe I was famous there.”
He continued, “After I checked in, he asked if I was a singer. I proudly said yes, and then he asked, ‘Which group are you in?’ That’s when I realized what was happening.”
Paul Kim explained, “I said I’m a solo singer, and he goes, ‘Aren’t you in BTS?’ Because of my name — Kim Tae Hyung. So I had to tell him, ‘V wouldn’t come to a hotel like this.’”
The cast burst into laughter, joking, “You’re dissing the hotel!”. Paul quickly clarified, “I meant that if the real V came, the whole place would’ve been in chaos!”
The lighthearted moment had everyone laughing, and fans are loving how Paul Kim handled the mix-up with charm and humor.
