Lee Hyori opened up about her emotional struggles after moving from Jeju Island to Seoul—and how her husband Lee Sang Soon lifted her spirits with a sweet (and stylish) surprise.

On June 28, the YouTube channel Ddeun Ddeun released episode 80 of its series, “Sharing a meal is just an excuse,” where the top star talked candidly about her big life change.

At first, I came with five dogs, but two of them got sick right away,” Hyo Ri said. “I cried every day, wondering if we made the wrong decision. I kept saying, ‘Oppa, should we go back to Jeju?’” But eventually, the couple settled in.

She explained the move wasn’t easy, especially since their dogs are all over 10 years old. “I tried to find a house near the mountains,” she shared, “and I wouldn’t have made this move if our dogs were still super active.”

Still, the transition was emotionally tough. “I got really depressed,” she admitted. “When I told Oppa I wanted to go back to Jeju, he said, ‘Should we go to the department store?’ I thought, ‘What’s the point?’ But then…” she smiled, hinting that things changed.

Around that time, Lee Sang Soon began hosting the MBC FM4U radio show ‘A Perfect Day with Lee Sang Soon’, which meant Hyo Ri had more time alone at home. After three months, Sang Soon told her he wanted to buy her a Chanel bag with his radio paycheck.

“I had already given away all my luxury bags when we moved to Jeju,” Hyo Ri said. “But he always said that after getting married, he wanted to buy his wife a really nice bag.”

They headed to Shinsegae Department Store in Gangnam, where shopping at Chanel isn’t as simple as walking in. “You need a reservation,” she said, laughing. “So I called Han Hye Yeon unnie and asked how to do it. She helped me make the appointment and even came with me to choose one.”

Yoo Jae Suk, who was in the video, reacted by saying, “Sang Soon is so cool.” Hyo Ri agreed, smiling, “He really was. He even dressed up to go to the store. When he gave me that big Chanel bag, I was excited.”

Hyo Ri then playfully admitted that luxury items used to mean nothing to her. “I even have a song where I say, ‘What’s the big deal about luxury? Does a luxury bag make me shine?’” she said. “I need to apologize. Because when I rode the escalator and saw my reflection… I was sparkling. I was glowing.”

Fans loved her honest and humorous take, showing once again that even the most grounded stars can have their glam moments—especially when love and Chanel are involved.
