Lee Hyori says being “too nice” made her lose her charm — Here's Why

K-pop legend Lee Hyori is getting real about why she stopped trying to please everyone — and fans are loving her honesty.

At the end of the June 25 broadcast of tvN’s variety show You Quiz on the Block, a preview aired showing Lee Hyori as the next guest. As expected, her bold personality immediately lit up the screen.

In the short clip, she casually asked host Yoo Jae Suk, “Can’t I cross my legs here? I’m just going to relax and be comfortable,” showing her chill and confident side.

She didn’t hold back when teasing Jo Se Ho either, joking, “You haven’t been popular for that long, have you?” — which made everyone in the studio burst into laughter.

But Lee Hyori also opened up about a more serious side of herself. She revealed, “There was a time when I was really nice. I was so tired and exhausted that I’d just say things like, ‘Okay, I’ll do it,’ or ‘Sure, that’s fine.’”

She continued, “But during that time, I felt like even my charm disappeared. So I decided to live the way I want, speak honestly, and show people who I really am.”

Lee Hyori , who debuted 27 years ago and is known for her confidence, wit, and strong presence, reminded fans once again why she remains a one-of-a-kind icon.

Her full episode of You Quiz on the Block will air on July 2 at 8:45 PM KST, and it’s already one of the most anticipated episodes of the season.
