tvN’s newest Monday-Tuesday drama "Head over Heels" is off to a powerful start — ranking #1 in its time slot with just its very first episode!
The first episode aired on June 23, and quickly gained attention for its fresh fantasy story, eye-catching visuals, and strong lead chemistry between Jo Yi Hyun and Choo Young Woo.
According to Nielsen Korea, Episode 1 earned an average rating of 4.3% nationwide, peaking at 5.2%, and did even better in the Seoul area with a 4.7% average and 5.6% peak. It also scored a 2.0% rating among 20-49 viewers, the highest among all tvN Monday-Tuesday dramas this year, even beating out major public broadcast shows in the same time slot.

The drama tells the story of Park Seong Ah (Jo Yi Hyun), a high school student who secretly lives a double life as a famous shaman known as “Cheonji Seonnyeo.” Her quiet life changes when a mysterious dream comes true — a man walks into her shrine upside down… and he’s exactly her type.
That man is Bae Gyeon Woo (Choo Young Woo), who not only shows up at her shrine, but later transfers to her school. In the shaman world, seeing someone upside down means they’re close to death — and Park Seong Ah is determined to save him from his unlucky fate.
But it won’t be easy. Gyeon Woo is cold, distant, and always surrounded by danger — from falling signs to near-death moments. What hurts Park Seong Ah most is not his harsh words, but how calm he stays when his life is on the line.
As her feelings grow, Park Seong Ah secretly prepares a powerful talisman made by a well-known shaman named Flower Bachelor (Yoon Byung Hee), hoping it’ll protect him and help her confess the truth. But her plan fails fast — because Gyeon Woo has a painful past with shamans. He once trusted them, only to be used and hurt. Now, he wants nothing to do with them.
Even so, Park Seong Ah doesn’t give up. In a chilling scene, she sees Gyeon Woo soaking wet and upside down again — a sign he could die within a day. She rushes to investigate and finds a water ghost in the boys’ restroom at school. To save him, she lures the ghost by offering help… but it turns violent. Right before it attacks Gyeon Woo, she blasts it with a water cannon.
Soaked and confused, Gyeon Woo yells, “What are you doing?!”
Park Seong Ah softly replies, “I protected you”—but her voice is lost in the noise of rushing water.
The episode ends with a dramatic moment that leaves viewers asking: Can Park Seong Ah protect Gyeon Woo while keeping her identity a secret?
Fans are already hooked by the unique mix of romance, mystery, and fantasy. Episode 2 of Gyeonwoo and Seonnyeo airs on June 24 at 8:50 PM KST, and expectations are rising fast!
