Singer and entertainer Kim Jae Joong recently made headlines for his honest and firm comments to webtoon artist and TV star Kian84, calling out what he sees as a lack of effort when it comes to showing respect to viewers.
On June 10, a new video titled "Kim Jae Joong update" was uploaded to Kian84's YouTube channel “Life84.” In the video, the two stars sat down for a fun and candid chat about life, work, and their different approaches to being on camera.
Kim Jae Joong shared that he’s currently working as the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) at iNKODE, the entertainment company he started.
“I’m also continuing my activities as a singer,” he added. Kian84 joked, “So are you trying to become the next Bang Si Hyuk or JYP?” Kim laughed and said, “I can’t compare to legends like them,” but proudly introduced his company’s girl group, Say My Name, saying, “They’ve been doing well since debuting about six months ago.”
Kian84 then asked, “Do you enjoy being active like Cristiano Ronaldo, or do you prefer training others?” Kim replied, “I’m doing both. It’s like living three lives at once,” revealing just how packed his schedule is. “I’ve only had one day off this month,” he said.
He also shared how he has to get makeup done almost every day and visits the salon regularly. That’s when Kian84, known for his casual style, asked, “Can’t you just skip going to the salon?”
Kim Jae Joong answered seriously, quoting Yoo Jae Suk, “Viewers take time out of their lives to watch us. If we appear on screen without putting in effort, that’s disrespectful to them.” His sincere words caught fans’ attention.
Kian84 couldn’t help but laugh and cover his face in embarrassment. “That feels like a direct hit,” he admitted. “I haven’t worn makeup on MBC in three years. I skipped it once, no one said anything, so I just kept not doing it.”
The moment quickly became a mix of laughter and reflection, as viewers praised Kim Jae Joong for his professionalism and honesty, and appreciated Kian84’s ability to laugh at himself.
