BTS members RM and V (Kim Taehyung) officially wrapped up their military service — but fans couldn’t help noticing one big difference in their outfits on the day they returned: their watches.
On June 10, RM and V were discharged after completing 1 year and 6 months of active-duty service in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province.
Both idols appeared in front of their base with bright smiles, holding flower bouquets as fans and reporters warmly welcomed them back.
RM surprised fans by playing the saxophone himself, touching everyone with his thoughtful gesture. But what really caught attention was their very different fashion choices — especially on their wrists.
RM was spotted wearing a Casio watch that costs around 120,000 KRW (about \$85 USD). Often nicknamed the “military Casio,” the simple black watch is known for being durable and affordable, and it's a common pick among soldiers in Korea.
Meanwhile, V turned heads with his luxury timepiece. He wore a Cartier watch worth about 20 million KRW (roughly \$14,500 USD). The Cartier brand holds extra meaning for V, as he’s currently serving as its global ambassador.
Fans quickly pointed out the huge price gap — V’s Cartier was nearly 160 times more expensive than RM’s Casio. But both watches matched each idol’s personality, showing their unique styles even after time in uniform.
During the brief interview, RM said, “As BTS’s RM back in society, I’ll do my best to show a cool side. Thank you to everyone who waited and supported me.”
V also shared a heartfelt message: “I think my time in the military was a moment to reflect on and reset my body and mind. I want to run to ARMY as soon as possible. If you wait just a little longer, we’ll return with amazing performances.”
With both members now officially discharged, excitement is building as BTS moves one step closer to a full group reunion.
