SEVENTEEN’s Mingyu had fans both laughing and surprised after revealing a shocking detail about his pinky finger — it stopped growing properly after wearing a ring every day for 10 years!
On June 6, Mingyu appeared on the YouTube show Hyeri’s Club. The idol talked about the group’s 10th anniversary performance at Jamsu Bridge in Seoul and opened up about what it’s really like to be in an idol group for a decade.
When Hyeri praised his long career and said, “I think it’s amazing that you’ve been an idol for 10 years,” Mingyu surprised her by saying, “It’s really awful.” He explained the feeling by comparing it to being stuck with the same classmates for 10 years.
“It’s like you start elementary school with 13 kids and you never switch classes. You just grow up with the same people until college,” he joked.

Despite the funny comparison, Mingyu clarified that he actually likes the members a lot. “The more you fight, the closer you are,” he said. Hyeri agreed, and Mingyu added with a laugh, “Sometimes it’s just like, ‘That guy annoys me,’ but it’s all love.”
He also talked about Woozi, who had been a guest on the show earlier. While Hyeri said Woozi seemed easy to tease, Mingyu quickly corrected her.
“That’s only because you’re a noona. Woozi hyung has a lot of pride. He doesn’t let people tease him easily. He probably held back because it was you.”
One of the biggest highlights came when Mingyu showed off SEVENTEEN’s matching rings. “We get new rings every time we release a full album. This is our fifth one,” he shared.

Holding up his pinky finger, he showed a visible ring mark and made everyone laugh by saying, “I’ve worn a ring on this finger every single day. It hasn’t grown right because of that. But honestly, that feels kind of romantic to me.”
He then joked, “There’s Park Ji Sung’s foot, Kim Yuna’s foot, and Mingyu’s pinky finger,” leaving Hyeri stunned.
He added that all SEVENTEEN members wear their rings religiously. “If someone forgets to wear it to a schedule, we can’t even shoot,” he said.
When Hyeri reacted in shock, calling it “too extreme,” Mingyu calmly replied, “That’s what keeps us together after 10 years of friendship.”
Fans found his honesty and humor refreshing — and many were left amazed by just how far idols go to stay united.
