Actress Kim So Hyun is finally speaking up after some people criticized her for seeming cold or unmotivated, even calling her a “grandma” because of her quiet vibe.
On June 2, a video was uploaded to Elle Korea’s official YouTube channel. In the clip, Kim So Hyun shared her side of the story and addressed the misunderstandings about her personality.
“People always say I look tired or like I have no energy,” she said with a smile. “But look—I’m smiling. That’s a good thing, right? My reactions just aren’t big. Even if I’m having fun, I’ll still say things like, ‘Can I go home now?’ I actually get shy and have a hard time showing how I feel.”
She also revealed that people on set gave her the nickname “grandma”. Laughing, she said, “They told me I looked especially tired that day. But really, I’m just sitting quietly, watching everyone with a happy heart. That’s my usual vibe.”

When asked to share a fun moment from her acting journey, Kim So Hyun looked back at the early days of Instagram and Twitter. “I used to get messages from people asking for advice,” she recalled.
“They were either my age or older girls. I’d listen to their worries and tell them to stay strong. I was really young back then and full of that pure energy. I didn’t talk about dating—I gave more advice about school and careers.” Her honesty brought laughter from viewers.
Meanwhile, Kim So Hyun is getting ready for her new role in the upcoming JTBC drama Good Boy. The series is a mix of youth, comedy, and action, and tells the story of former national athletes who become elite police officers. Instead of medals, they now wear police badges and work to fight corruption and unfairness in society.
