Comedienne Ji Ye Eun opened up about the emotional struggles she faced while working on SNL Korea, revealing that she often cried alone in the bathroom while pretending to be happy on camera.
On May 26, a new episode of the YouTube show Jjan Han Hyung featured Kim Min Kyo, Ji Ye Eun, and Kim Won Hoon. During the episode, Ji Ye Eun got emotional as she talked about the tough moments she experienced during her time on the comedy show.
“Comedy is the hardest, but I really wanted to do it. I felt so excited when people laughed,” she shared, showing her deep love for making people laugh despite the challenges.

Kim Min Kyo also reflected on those days, saying, “Ye Eun doesn’t seem like someone who would usually do comedy, but she worked so hard and was always kind. I really hoped things would go well for her. But at the time, (Joo) Hyun Young had such a strong presence that even when Ye Eun did something really funny, it didn’t stand out.”
Ji Ye Eun then couldn’t hold back her tears and said, “Kim Ah Young, who was known for her ‘clear-eyed crazy’ character, got attention first. We joined SNL at the same time, but I felt really small. I kept thinking, ‘Maybe I’m just not good enough.’ But Min Kyo sunbaenim gave me a lot of advice and support.”
She went on to reveal just how hard it was behind the scenes. “You probably didn’t know this, but during Season 3 of SNL, I cried in the bathroom every time. I was playing a cheerful character called 'Head Full of Flowers,' so I didn’t want anyone to see me sad. I would cry alone, and one day, I met (Lee) Su Ji unnie. She talked to me and comforted me a lot. If it weren’t for her, I wouldn’t have made it through. I was mentally really broken.”
Fans are now showing support for Ji Ye Eun, praising her honesty and strength in sharing such a personal story.
