• RIIZE’s Sohee says he used to be scared of Wonbin but now jokes around like they’re the same age

RIIZE’s Sohee and Wonbin recently had fans laughing with their cute and playful chemistry!

On May 20, the two idols appeared together on the popular web variety show Salon Drip 2, where they opened up about their friendship and how things have changed since their trainee days.

Wonbin, born in 2002, is just a year older than Sohee, who was born in 2003. Even though there’s only a small age gap, host Jang Do Yeon pointed out that in Korean culture, even one year can create a big difference in how people talk to each other. But Wonbin quickly said, “Sohee doesn’t act like that at all. He’s usually very cheeky.”

Sohee explained, “Rather than being cheeky, I try to keep a good balance between being respectful and staying friendly.”

Wonbin laughed and added, “He’s got good sense. He jokes around in a fun way that doesn’t upset me. I’m from Gyeongsang-do, so sometimes he copies my dialect and randomly talks informally, like, ‘Hey! Park Wonbin!’ He teases me a lot.”

Sohee then surprised fans by saying, “Back when we were trainees, I couldn’t even dream of acting like this. Wonbin was kind of like a team leader, and he was a really scary hyung back then.”

Fans found it sweet and funny to see how their relationship has grown more comfortable and natural over time.

Meanwhile, RIIZE just made a big comeback with their first full album ODYSSEY, released on May 19.

  • NewJeans’ “Ditto” still ruling the music world — find out why it won best K-pop song in Japan

Girl group NewJeans (Minji, Hannii, Daniele, Haerin, Hyein) continued to prove their huge global impact by winning a big award in Japan.

On May 21, at the Music Awards Japan 2025 held in Kyoto, NewJeans took home the Best K-Pop Song in Japan award for their hit track “Ditto” from their single album “OMG.”

The Music Awards Japan is a new ceremony created by cooperation between five major Japanese organizations, including the Japan Record Industry Association and government agencies. Winners are chosen fairly based on various music charts like Billboard Japan, Oricon, and votes from over 5,000 music experts.

Although “Ditto” was released back in December 2022 — over 2 years ago — it still won this prestigious award at the very first Music Awards Japan. This shows how NewJeans’ music has timeless appeal and remains loved by fans across different countries and years.

“Ditto” also brought NewJeans many impressive records. The song helped the group enter the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Official Singles Top 100 just six months after their debut. In Korea, “Ditto” stayed at number one on Melon’s main chart for 99 days straight, topped the 2023 year-end charts, and earned the Excellence Work Award at the Japan Record Awards in 2023.

NewJeans keeps proving that their music is not only a hit today but continues to be a fan favorite worldwide.
