• (G)I-DLE's Yuqi slammed for saying fans are fools for buying tickets while she has to pay for her friends' seats

(G)I-DLE’s Yuqi is facing backlash after her recent comments about concert tickets upset fans online.

On May 13, a video titled “The day we waited for a long time has finally come|EP. 90 (G)I-DLE Minnie Yuqi” was posted on the YouTube channel TEO Teo. In the video, Yuqi and fellow member Minnie sat down with comedian Jang Do Yeon to talk about their concerts.

During the chat, Jang Do Yeon said to Minnie, “I heard you used 10 million won of your own money to invite about 100 people to your concert.” Minnie nodded and explained that in Thailand, her “Minnie Zone” was filled with her family, friends, and even school seniors and juniors.

Yuqi then jumped in and shared her thoughts about how idols don’t get many free tickets:
“We only get about four free tickets. But isn’t it a good thing that we want to invite people to our own concert? Even though it’s our show, we still have to buy the tickets with our own money.”

Jang Do Yeon asked why they didn’t include more free tickets in their contract, to which Minnie replied, “We forgot… and we already renewed the contract, with three years left.” Yuqi responded, “Thank you, senior. I’ll try talking to the company again.”

But some viewers didn’t take Yuqi’s comment well. Many fans were quick to criticize her words, especially the way she questioned why she had to pay for her guests, while fans spend their own money.

Fans wrote harsh comments online such as:

    • “Do they not understand that giving out free tickets is already a big deal?”
    • “Fans pay full price, and she’s mad about giving out free seats?”
    • “It feels like she’s calling paying fans fools.”
    • “The concert isn’t even paid for by her—it’s the agency and production team behind it.”
    • “Celebs really live in another world.”

Clips from the video were also shared on online forums, where even more netizens reacted with frustration:

    • “So fans are just suckers to them?”
    • “They don’t even realize how lucky their friends are to get invited.”
    • “They should be more thankful to the fans who make these shows possible.”

As the controversy grows, fans are demanding a more thoughtful response from Yuqi. So far, neither Yuqi nor her agency has addressed the issue.
