On May 8, news outlet OSEN reported that Shin Ye Eun officially accepted the offer to star in Survival Doctor after carefully reviewing the script. The series will be her next big project following her successful roles in The Glory and Jung Nyeon.

In Survival Doctor, Shin Ye Eun will play Yuk Ha Ri, a nurse who once worked at a prestigious university hospital. But something changes in her life, and she ends up working as a one-year contract nurse at a rural health center in Pyeon-dong. There, she reconnects with plastic surgeon Do Ji Ui, played by Lee Jae Wook, and the two become involved in a romantic storyline.

This is the first time Shin Ye Eun and Lee Jae Wook will appear together in a drama, and fans are already looking forward to their chemistry. Lee Jae Wook, who is also set to enlist in the military later this year, will be taking on his first doctor role in the drama. He first debuted in the 2018 drama Memories of the Alhambra and has since built a strong acting career.

She’s staying very busy this year — aside from Survival Doctor, she’ll also be appearing in the Disney+ series Misty Stream (Tak Ryu) with Rowoon and Park Seo Ham, and JTBC’s One Hundred Memories, a youth romance where she plays a bold and cheerful bus guide.

Before diving into filming, Shin Ye Eun will also meet her international fans! She’s holding her first solo fan meeting, The Milky Way, in Taipei, Taiwan on May 10.

Survival Doctor is based on a popular webtoon that started on Kakao Webtoon in 2022. It follows the story of a plastic surgeon who gets sent to a remote island as a public health doctor, where he must survive for a year while treating villagers and facing new challenges. The drama will be directed by Lee Myung Woo, known for The Fiery Priest and Boyhood. Details about its broadcast schedule and streaming platforms are still being discussed.
