Veteran singer Yoon Sang is looking back at one of his biggest regrets — and it involves none other than superstar IU.
In the May 5 episode of the YouTube show Zzanbro Shin Dong Yup, Yoon Sang appeared alongside Lee Hyun Woo and Kim Hyun Chul. That’s when host Shin Dong Yup brought up a hilarious story that caught everyone’s attention.
He laughed and said, “I heard Yoon Sang once told IU not to act! I couldn’t stop laughing when I heard that!”
Yoon Sang quickly confessed with a sheepish smile, “Yes… I’ve apologized to her so many times. Back then, I was scared. I didn’t want to lose a musical treasure like IU to acting.”

He admitted, “Acting and singing are completely different, and I was worried she’d get hurt. I thought I was protecting her… but really, I was just being selfish.”
Now, though? He totally changed his mind.
“Looking back, I can’t believe I said that,” Yoon Sang said. “If IU didn’t act, we would’ve missed out on so many amazing performances. I watched her in When Life Gives You Tangerines and I loved it. She was incredible.”
Then he got real, “Young people teach me a lot. I’ve realized I can be so narrow-minded sometimes”.

Turns out, that experience changed how he raised his own son too — and yes, he’s talking about RIIZE's Anton!
“If I hadn’t learned from IU, I probably would’ve told Anton, ‘No way, you’re not becoming an idol,’” Yoon Sang said. “But he was serious. He told me Korea’s idol system is the best in the world and that he needed to start training right away”.
When asked if he pulled strings for his son’s debut, Yoon Sang shut that down real quick, “I don’t have that kind of power.”
He added, “SM Entertainment doesn’t work like that. If anything, they judged Anton harder. He trained for two years and gave it everything he had.”
From warning IU not to act… to raising a K-pop idol — Yoon Sang’s done a full 180, and he’s not afraid to admit it
