• Lee Hyori’s touching gesture for Choi Jin Sil’s mother has everyone calling her 'Mother Hyorisa'

Singer Lee Hyori is being praised once again for her touching act of kindness toward the late actress Choi Jin Sil’s mother, a story that has recently resurfaced online and has people calling her ‘Mother Hyorisa’ for a reason.

This story gained attention after Lee Hyori shared it during her appearance on the YouTube variety show Super Market Sora, which aired on February 7 of last year. On the show, Lee Hyori opened up about how she comforted Choi Jin Sil’s mother at the actress’s funeral, even though she wasn’t very close to Choi Jin Sil personally.

During the show, Lee Hyori shared, “At the funeral, Unnie (referring to Um Jung Hwa), Jin Young oppa, and Jin Sil unnie’s mother were there. I didn’t know most of them, and I was still young, so I didn’t really know how to comfort anyone. I just sat nearby and watched the unnies comfort her.”

She continued, “It was around 11 or 12 at night. Jin Young oppa seemed out of place with the others, so I went to his room. He played a duet song with Jin Sil unnie that was never released, and asked if I wanted to listen. The song even had a music video with candid moments of Jin Sil unnie. He cried while watching it. I was still young, so I just sat next to him. When I came out, all the unnies had left. I was going to leave too, but Jin Sil unnie’s mother asked if I could stay for just one night.”

Lee Hyori added, “I didn’t feel like saying no. I thought, ‘If I can be of help, I’ll stay.’ So I slept in her room, and she held me while sleeping. Then I had a dream. Jin Sil unnie came to me—even though I had never met her in person—and said, ‘Please take care of Hwan Hee and Joon Hee.’ It was a strange dream, but even so, I couldn’t keep visiting their house or taking care of the children after that.”'

This touching moment continues to earn Lee Hyori praise for her kind-hearted nature. Often called "Mother Hyorisa" by fans (a nickname combining "Hyo Ri" and "Mother Teresa"), Lee Hyori is known for her good deeds. She has volunteered for abandoned animals, anonymously donated masks to low-income groups during the early days of COVID-19, and gave 100 million won during the 2023 Gangwon wildfires.

Beyond her TV appearances, Lee Hyori has shown her sincerity on shows like Hyori’s Bed and Breakfast, where she was praised for remembering her guests and keeping in touch with them even after they left. Her actions speak louder than words, and this is exactly why people continue to call her "Mother Hyorisa."

Fans continue to be moved by her unwavering kindness and generosity, proving that Lee Hyori is truly a role model in more ways than one.

  • Lee Jun Young says he felt guilty and cried after acting mean to a grandma in 'Brave Citizen'

Lee Jun Young recently opened up about the emotional toll of playing a villain—and how one powerful scene made him break down in tears behind the scenes.

On the May 1st episode of KBS 2TV’s variety show Problem Child in House, Lee Jun Young appeared alongside co-star Jung Eun Ji to promote their new KBS drama Pump Up the Healthy Love.

During the show, Lee Jun Young was asked about the most unforgettable villain he’s played. He chose his role as Han Su Gang in the film Brave Citizen.

He explained, “It was really tough to film. I had to act like I was leading school violence, and there was even a scene where I bullied a grandmother.”

The hosts were surprised, pointing out how kind and gentle he seems in real life. Lee Jun Young shared how he transforms for such roles.

“I try to act as bad as I can, but sometimes the director says, ‘You still look too nice.’ Then I focus even harder and adjust right away.”

He also revealed that filming one particular scene hit him hard emotionally. “My real grandmother was sick at the time,” he said.

“In one scene, there’s a grandma selling gimbap, and I ad-libbed by stubbing a cigarette out on the gimbap. I was really into character, but after filming, I just broke down. So many thoughts came to me and I started crying.”

Fans praised his dedication to acting but also felt moved by how deeply the role affected him. Lee Jun Young’s honesty gave a raw look at how even fictional roles can hit close to home.
