A former contestant from Produce 101 Season 2 is facing serious allegations after multiple people claimed they were scammed by a travel agency linked to him.
According to an MBC News Desk report on February 20, a travel agency that sold Southeast Asia tour packages suddenly canceled bookings and disappeared without issuing refunds.
The agency was run by a man identified as Mr. Lee, who was introduced as someone who appeared on a famous K-pop reality program. News Desk blurred out footage of a contestant from Produce 101 Season 2, hinting at his identity.
Victims say they were lured in by promotions claiming the trips were personally experienced by a well-known influencer.
However, earlier this month, the agency cut off all contact after canceling bookings, leaving customers with no money and no trips.
When some victims visited the agency’s office, they were shocked to find it completely empty—no signs, no staff, nothing. So far, at least 15 people have come forward.
Lee, the agency’s representative, is denying full responsibility. He claimed, "I was asked if I could temporarily lend my name for a short time. They said they needed to transfer some shares. I thought it was just for a moment, but things turned out like this, and I'm really shocked."
Authorities have reportedly summoned him for questioning, and the case is under investigation.
