• Jeon Soyeon Opens Up About Why (G)I-DLE’s Contract Renewal Took Time: “I love my members the most”

(G)I-DLE’s leader, Jeon Soyeon, has finally confirmed her contract renewal with Cube Entertainment, putting an end to weeks of speculation about the group’s future. Fans can now breathe a sigh of relief as all five members are staying together.

On December 1, Soyeon took to her Instagram to share the news directly with fans. In her heartfelt post, she expressed her deep gratitude, “I’m so thankful to Neverver (a sweet nickname for their fan club, Neverland) and everyone who loves (G)I-DLE’s music. And, of course, I love my members the most.”

Reflecting on their seven-year journey, she said, “We’ve gone through so much together—happiness, sadness, despair, and hope. These experiences have made us stronger as a team.”

Soyeon also addressed why the contract renewal process took longer than fans might have expected. She explained, “Since we’re friends who grew up in completely different environments and only met as adults, it naturally took time for us to make this decision. Neverver, I know you were really worried. But in the end, all five of us shared the same thought—we wanted to stay together.”

She added, “I’m so happy and proud to continue as (G)I-DLE’s leader. Miyeon unnie, Minnie unnie, Yuqi, and Shuhua—thank you so much, and I love you all. Neverver and (G)I-DLE, let’s stay together forever!”

The announcement comes just after (G)I-DLE won the grand prize for “Record of the Year” at the 2024 Melon Music Awards (MMA 2024) on November 30. During her acceptance speech, Soyeon addressed the swirling rumors directly , “Lately, there have been so many articles saying (G)I-DLE might disband because of my contract. Some even said this was the end for us. But I want to make this clear—all five of us have renewed our contracts. We finalized the decision just before stepping on stage tonight. Next year, the year after, and for as long as we can, the five of us will continue as (G)I-DLE. We’ll repay you with amazing music.”

Fans are now celebrating this joyful news and eagerly anticipating what the group has in store for the future. It’s clear that (G)I-DLE is here to stay!

  • Lee Jun Young says he felt guilty and cried after acting mean to a grandma in 'Brave Citizen'

Lee Jun Young recently opened up about the emotional toll of playing a villain—and how one powerful scene made him break down in tears behind the scenes.

On the May 1st episode of KBS 2TV’s variety show Problem Child in House, Lee Jun Young appeared alongside co-star Jung Eun Ji to promote their new KBS drama Pump Up the Healthy Love.

During the show, Lee Jun Young was asked about the most unforgettable villain he’s played. He chose his role as Han Su Gang in the film Brave Citizen.

He explained, “It was really tough to film. I had to act like I was leading school violence, and there was even a scene where I bullied a grandmother.”

The hosts were surprised, pointing out how kind and gentle he seems in real life. Lee Jun Young shared how he transforms for such roles.

“I try to act as bad as I can, but sometimes the director says, ‘You still look too nice.’ Then I focus even harder and adjust right away.”

He also revealed that filming one particular scene hit him hard emotionally. “My real grandmother was sick at the time,” he said.

“In one scene, there’s a grandma selling gimbap, and I ad-libbed by stubbing a cigarette out on the gimbap. I was really into character, but after filming, I just broke down. So many thoughts came to me and I started crying.”

Fans praised his dedication to acting but also felt moved by how deeply the role affected him. Lee Jun Young’s honesty gave a raw look at how even fictional roles can hit close to home.
