LE SSERAFIM has made history by becoming the first K-pop girl group to perform solo at the prestigious 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards (MTV EMA) and take home a major award!
The group—Kim Chaewon, Sakura, Huh Yunjin, Kazuha, and Hong Eunchae—attended the ceremony on November 10 in Manchester, UK. They were nominated in three categories: 'Best Push,' 'Best New,' and 'Best K-Pop.' LE SSERAFIM was the only K-pop act invited to perform at the event, making their appearance even more special.
Ahead of the ceremony, the British BBC previewed their performance, highlighting LE SSERAFIM's incredible success in the U.S. and hinting at a "sophisticated and polished stage." Rita Ora, the host of the ceremony, also praised the group’s rehearsal, calling it “amazing” and teasing fans about the excitement to come.
When LE SSERAFIM hit the stage, they did not disappoint. The group performed their latest track "Chasing Lightning," with a voguing dance and 20 local dancers, showing off their high-energy choreography and stunning stage presence. When the title track "CRAZY" played, the crowd went wild, dancing and singing along to the Korean lyrics, proving just how popular LE SSERAFIM has become in Europe.
But the history-making moment didn’t stop there. LE SSERAFIM took home the ‘Best Push’ award, becoming the first-ever K-pop girl group to win the honor. They beat out other talented artists like Chappell Roan, Teddy Swims, and Laufey. The members expressed their heartfelt gratitude, saying, “Just performing in the UK for the first time was already incredible. We never imagined we would win. This award is thanks to our fans’ continuous support, and we dedicate this honor to them.”
LE SSERAFIM’s victory follows their performance at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards in September, where they won the ‘PUSH Performance of the Year’ award. Now, with a trophy from the MTV EMA, the group has firmly established their presence on the global music scene, showing the world they are here to stay.
