BTS’s V has reached new heights by topping Japan’s Oricon chart with his solo album Layover LP, showcasing its massive popularity.
According to the "Daily Album Ranking" chart released by Oricon on September 30, V's Layover LP debuted at No. 1 right after its release in Japan. It also took the top spot in both Amazon Japan’s Imported Albums Sales Ranking and the latest Imported Albums Sales Ranking.
Layover, V's first solo album released on September 8 last year, sold 221,491 copies on its release day, making a strong entrance at No. 1 on Oricon’s "Daily Album Ranking" chart.

The album’s title track, "Slow Dancing," also achieved great success, topping the "Daily Digital Single Ranking" and dominating both the album and digital charts. Other songs from the album, like "Blue," "For Us," and the piano version of "Slow Dancing," ranked between 4th and 6th on the "Daily Digital Single Ranking."
In Oricon’s "Annual Ranking 2023," which covers sales from December 26, 2022, to December 18, 2023, Layover sold a total of 247,826 copies, placing 16th on the "Album Ranking." This made it the highest-ranked album for a K-pop solo artist.

Additionally, Layover was the only K-pop solo album to make it into Oricon's "Best-selling K-pop Albums Top 10." It also ranked 19th on Oricon's "Combined Album Ranking" and 5th on the "Western Music Album Ranking," setting top positions for a K-pop solo artist in multiple categories. On the "Digital Album" ranking, Layover came in at 12th, highlighting V's significant impact as a solo artist on Oricon's annual rankings for 2023.
The Layover LP version sold out just one day after pre-orders began in Japan on August 21, both on the "BTS Official Japan Store" and "Universal Music Japan." Despite several restocks, it has continued to sell out.
Due to the high demand, fans in Japan are asking for more restocks. Reports also indicate that fans in other countries, including the UK, US, and Canada, are facing challenges purchasing the LP because of ongoing sell-outs ahead of its release.
