BTS’s V is proving his incredible popularity in Japan, even while serving in the military.
From July 29 to August 4, V was the top-ranked K-pop male idol on the Japanese idol ranking site 'NEHAN,' holding the No. 1 spot for an impressive 175 weeks in a row.
During the same period, V also led the 'Actor Popularity Ranking' on the Korean actor site 'BIHAN,' staying at No. 1 for 24 consecutive weeks. He has held the top spot in the '20s Korean Actor' category for 171 weeks.

On 'K-board,' a site focused on K-culture, V has been the top choice in the 'K-pop Idol Flower Boy Election' and 'Korean Drama Male Actor Election,' holding No. 1 in real-time, weekly, monthly, and yearly rankings for 132 weeks. On 'KPOP JUICE,' V received a total of 4.91 million votes in the popularity poll, keeping his top position throughout.
In Japan, V’s popularity is comparable to that of top Japanese celebrities. Since BTS debuted in June 2013, V has consistently been the most searched K-pop idol on Google Trends in Japan. On X (formerly Twitter), V has achieved the highest mention volume, surpassing Japanese stars.
From August 21 to August 28, Tokyo will host an exhibition of V’s photobook 'TYPE 1.' This photobook, which V shot before his military enlistment, has become a bestseller both in Japan and internationally.
In Japan, V’s photobook has topped the K-pop Asia ranking on Rakuten and secured four out of ten spots in the global online shopping mall Qoo10. At the Universal Music Store Japan, it ranked No. 1 and No. 2 across all categories, including CDs and DVDs, and had the highest click rates on the site, reflecting its massive success.
