The Seoul Songpa Police have started a preliminary investigation into the recent sexual harassment incident involving BTS's Jin at a hug event.

On June 18th, the police revealed they were looking into claims that some fans tried to kiss Jin, leading to allegations of sexual harassment.

A police spokesperson told TenAsia, "We are in the preliminary investigation stage for the BTS Jin incident. The victim's perspective is crucial, so we are in contact with the agency."

To identify the suspects, police need the cooperation of Jin's agency. Since Jin is the victim in this case, his stance is essential.

The police stated, "We need to first listen to Jin’s side, review, and make a judgment. If he can come in, we will listen to his opinion, and if not, we will need to re-confirm his position."

Meanwhile, Jin’s side has not yet provided their opinion to the police.

The incident occurred at Jin’s hug event during the '2024 FESTA' on June 13th, where 1,000 fans attended. While most fans followed the rules, some tried to kiss him, sparking outrage among fans worldwide.

This hug event was Jin's special gesture for fans who waited for him during his military service. Unfortunately, the actions of a few tarnished the event's significance, causing regret.
